This is how you get through the summer in Amsterdam

We had to wait a little while, but summer is finally around the corner. The nice weather that will come makes everyone excited to go out and about. From leaving the house without a jacket on, all the festivals that are coming, picnicking in the park to all the sweet summer evenings that we will get to enjoy. We surely will not get enough of all the summer vibes coming our way.

Amsterdam Pride - from July 27 until August 4

The Pride in Amsterdam is the biggest of its kind in Europe and the only Pride with a show on the Canals, where many boats will participate in a show tour on the canals of Amsterdam.

Also several parties, movie screenings, sportgames, exhibitions and way way more will be organised during the Pride. In total there will be around the 170 events this edition.

In total around the 350.000 people will visit the Pride in Amsterdam this year.

Over het IJ Festival - July 5 until July 14

This year it's already the 27th edition of the annual "Over het IJ festival" in Amsterdam. Like always, the festival will be held on the vibrant NDSM-Wharf in the North of Amsterdam. 

The festival will be about a lot of theatre, where young and older artists will show their new work and plays

The festival is easy to reach by public transportation (for example by ferry from Central Station to the NDSM-wharf) or by bike or car.

Kwaku Summer Festival - July 13 until August 4

Every summer again the Nelson Mandela park in Amsterdam South-East is dedicated to the Kwaku Festival for 4 weekends long. Good food, drinks, music and culture, who does not like that?

What started as a small soccer tournament for the youth in the area, expanded to one of the biggest festivals in the city. Well known by people from all over the country. More than 300.000 people will visit the event this year.

The Kwaku Summer Festival brings cultures together and shows how big the diversity of people in the city is. It also shows that music create bonds between people. Curious?

Grachtenfestival Amsterdam - August 9 until August 18

Who thinks of Amsterdam thinks about their canals, and maybe thinks about the 'Grachtenfestival' too. Grachtenfestival means Canal festival, but this festival is not only being held on the Canals of Amsterdam.

This festival is about classical music, jazz and a lot of music from other cultures. A lot of locations and places wil be decor of this event. There will be a stunning amount of 250 concerts at 90 different venues in every corner of the city.

ARTIS Zoomeravonden - June 1 until August 31 (every Saturday night)

Every Saturday night this summer in ARTIS (Amsterdam's zoo) you can enjoy live music, exhibitions, walking tours and of course, the animals too.

The ARTIS Summer nights start at 3pm and go on until sunset (the zoo itself will open at 9am). Of course besides all the activities that will be held, such as workshops, tours, shows and exhibitions, you can also enjoy the day while having a picnic on the grass for example. There will be several food stands to buy something to eat and drink. Perfect to enjoy the nice weather!
