5 x New Years Eve in Amsterdam

Christmas is about to start and everyone is wrapping up for the end of the year. Offices will be closed, some of you will go home to spend time with their family and others might be traveling.

You might have been wondering what you will be doing to celebrate the ending of 2019 and the start of the new year.

Like always, Amsterdam will be hot and happening during New Years Eve, curious what you can do on the last day of the year? Find out below!

1. Go for deep fried doughnut balls

Yes you heard that right, it's a typical Dutch tradition during the holiday season. It's basically a ball of dough, fried. Nothing more, nothing less. It's the best topped with powdered sugar and a glass of champagne, of course.

Best places to get them in the city? Try Bakkerszonen in the city center, Hartog’s Volkoren in the East or Stuij-Roulaux near Bijlmer Station (Arenaboulevard). Much recommended!

2. Go visit a street party on New Years Eve

Are the NYE's Parties sold out? Or rather wanna enjoy the fireworks outside? Go join one of the street parties in the city! There's several outside parties starting from 9:30pm at Nieuwmarkt, Rembrandt Square and Leidseplein.

3. Go to bed early and do the Nieuwjaarsduik.

Yes it's a thing here, people wake up early on New Years day (6am?) go to the beach and dip in the water. Sounds fun? Probably, when you're not hungover though. Give it a try if you decide to not go out on NYE and drink excessively. Populair places for a Nieuwjaarsduik are Zandvoort and Scheveningen.
